TV college football week 1 ATS picks and trends

Thursday night opens five days of college football action. We explore the point spreads for Penn State's trip to Purdue and Oregon State's home game vs Boise State.

The point spreads have tightened since these odds peaked months ago. With that in mind, here are our top ATS options for this weekend's non-AP Top 25 televised games.

Tennessee is Georgia's best SEC East challenge, and the Volunteers will start with a victory against Ball State. PFF ranks Ball State's attack 115th and defence 117th among 130 FBS colleges.

Purdue upset Tennessee 48-45 in the Music City Bowl last season sans players David Bell and George Karlaftis.

Brady Cook replaces Connor Bazelak at QB for the Tigers, and although the attack might take a little to get going, they're capable of thrashing a terrible Louisiana Tech defensive by three touchdowns or more.

Tanner Morgan is glad that Kirk Ciarrocca is back as Minnesota's offensive coordinator. Morgan's greatest season with Ciarrocca was 2019, when he was voted second-team All-Big Ten.
