Steve Smith breaks a century drought

By Sandesh

After 18 months, former Australian captain Steve Smith broke his century-drought.

On the second day of the second Test against Sri Lanka, the illustrious right-hander scored 109*.

In January 2021, he scored his final century in Sydney's match against India.

Smith has six half centuries since that Test match, but he has yet to break the three-figure curse.

With 28 hundreds under his belt, Smith outperformed Virat Kohli. He recently competed in 87 Test matches.

Kohli, a fellow member of the Fab Four, is stuck at his 27th wicket due to a slip in form.

Smith and Marnus Labuschagne worked together to give Australia a dominant position.

In the new WTC season, the Pat Cummins side has not lost a single Test match.

Will this be the beginning of another Steve Smith era that will soar to impossible heights?
