Adams Supports New NYC Nuclear Attack PSA: "It's a Great Idea"

Tuesday, Mayor Eric Adams defended the Office of Emergency Management's latest public service announcement for New York City, calling it a "wonderful idea" that was inspired by the current Russian war in Ukraine.

A brief PSA highlighting three actions New Yorkers may take "as the danger landscape continues to evolve" is featured in the campaign, it launched on Monday.

The PSA suggests the following actions in the event of a nuclear incident:

- Enter the building: Remain inside and away from any windows.

Stay inside; lock all windows and doors, and, if your home has one, take refuge in the basement.

Keep up with the news and stay put by keeping an eye out for official announcements on when it is safe to go outside.

By visiting NYC.gov/notifynyc or calling 311, New Yorkers are invited to sign up for Notify NYC, the city's official emergency communications programme, and get free emergency alerts.
